Steelfloat Operator – Concrete Finishing Specialist

About the role

The Steelfloat Operator role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Kampala, with some tasks that can be completed from home. It involves operating steelfloat equipment to finish and level concrete surfaces in preparation for epoxy installation, ensuring smooth, consistent, and structurally sound floors.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and maintain steelfloat tools and equipment.
• Follow project specifications and safety and quality standards.
• Coordinate with site supervisors and epoxy installation teams.
• Assist in surface preparation, mixing and handling materials.
• Document work completed and communicate progress or issues to project leads.
• Review job specifications and prepare reports, some tasks performed remotely.

Required profile

• Strong practical skills in concrete finishing, steelfloat operation, and surface preparation for flooring systems.
• Knowledge of epoxy flooring processes, basic construction techniques, and safe handling of materials and equipment.
• Ability to read and follow technical instructions, project plans, and safety procedures with attention to detail.
• Good physical stamina, manual dexterity, and capability to work in varied site conditions.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with basic record‑keeping and reporting using digital tools.
• Prior experience in flooring, concrete works, or construction is highly beneficial; vocational training or certification in construction trades is an advantage.
