Technical Supervisor – Furniture Production

About the role

The Technical Supervisor oversees end‑to‑end local fabrication and outsourced production of custom furniture, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to exact technical specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Translate design concepts into detailed technical production packages, including AutoCAD/SolidWorks drawings, Bill of Materials and hardware specs.
• Identify, vet and onboard local furniture manufacturers, negotiate timelines, costs and quality SLAs, and allocate jobs based on supplier strengths.
• Conduct on‑site inspections at vendor workshops, enforce quality standards, manage first‑article inspections and oversee final packaging and logistics for Nairobi‑to‑Kampala transit.

Required profile

• Higher Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Wood Technology, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Fine Art or equivalent.
• 4–6 years of technical quality control, contract manufacturing management or senior workshop supervision within the East African furniture sector.
• Proven experience working with Kenyan and Ugandan suppliers is a distinct advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with wood moisture meters, digital calipers, micrometers, coating thickness gauges and lux meters.
• Advanced use of AutoCAD or SolidWorks for creating shop drawings and production documentation.
