Uganda Field Operations Lead (Fixed-Term)

About the role

One Acre Fund's Uganda program, based in Jinja and serving the eastern districts of Iganga, Jinja, Kamuli and Buikwe, is looking for a Field Operations Lead on a 2-year fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Head of Field Programs, you will drive core seasonal activities, manage regional teams, coach Regional Leads and represent the department, delivering impact targets through rigorous field execution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the field implementation of the Uganda Vision and Strategy, set department OKRs and help Regional Leads turn them into actionable plans
• Own the season execution plan for the coffee program and tree mobilisation, ensuring training is delivered on time, to standard and at target attendance, and track progress weekly with KPIs and data
• Standardise and document field protocols and tools, and manage and coach 3+ Regional Leads, including staff recruitment and leadership development
• Supervise and sign off on the monthly payroll for field staff, and co-create and monitor the annual Field Operations budget
• Plan and lead field rollouts for expansion seasons, working with Government Relations, Procurement and Logistics to prepare sites, supplies and authorisations
• Support impact follow-up: roll out new coffee agronomy practices, coordinate field data collection, impact trials and surveys on training success and behaviour change
• Support donor reporting, including grant budget-versus-actuals reviews, and coordinate regional partnerships and stakeholder relations

Required profile

• 5-7 years of experience in field operations, programme delivery or a similar role, with at least about 2 years in management, ideally in agriculture, rural development or last-mile distribution
• Demonstrated experience managing people, ideally managers or team leads
• Experience delivering seasonal or time-bound operations at scale
• Experience with expansion, scale-up or new-site launches is a strong advantage
• Willingness to travel regularly to field sites across Uganda
