Air Operations Assistant

About the role

The Air Operations Assistant supports the Aviation Unit of UNISFA in Entebbe, ensuring safe and efficient movement of aircraft, passengers, and cargo. Reporting to the Associate Air Operations Officer, the incumbent assists with coordination, monitoring, safety, and emergency response for UN aviation operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with scheduling UN flights, arranging airspace and landing clearances, and ordering ground handling services.
• Support aircrew dispatch and coordinate ground handling requirements.
• Manage cleaning, equipment, refueling, transportation, and verification of services for mission aircraft.
• Monitor weather forecasts and NOTAMs and disseminate information to relevant parties.
• Use radios and flight‑tracking systems to monitor UN aircraft positions and movements.
• Maintain accurate flight‑following, dispatch, and technical compliance records.
• Enter reports into the radio log and complete logs according to daily flight schedules and UN aviation standards.
• Complete the Aviation Operations Risk Management Checklist.
• Coordinate with civil aviation and airport authorities for passes, authorizations, escort, hangar space, and support equipment.
• Collect and analyse Aircraft Use Reports and prepare daily Flight Hour Reports for all aircraft.
