About the role
Amentum is seeking a Bicycle Mechanic to support the US Navy Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program on Diego Garcia. The role involves repairing, assembling, and maintaining both government‑owned and customer‑owned bicycles to ensure safe, reliable operation for rental and event use.
Key responsibilities
- Assemble and repair bicycles, installing parts and accessories according to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and adjustments on MWR‑owned rental bikes.
- Maintain a detailed repair log and provide bi‑monthly updates for government review.
- Provide on‑site repair support during bike races and other MWR events.
- Operate a clean, safe bike shop and ensure tools and equipment are serviceable.
- Interact with customers to address service requests, inquiries, and concerns.
- Identify, order, and stock replacement parts and supplies as needed.
Required profile
- 1‑3 years of experience as a bicycle mechanic or in bicycle assembly, repair, or maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to keep accurate service records and follow quality‑assurance procedures.
- Strong mechanical problem‑solving skills and the ability to lift and maneuver bicycles.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Valid passport with minimum two‑year validity for international travel.
