Child Protection Coordinator

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a Child Protection Coordinator to lead technical and strategic activities that safeguard children in Kasese, Uganda. The role combines policy advocacy, stakeholder coordination, and program oversight to ensure high‑quality implementation of child protection initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall technical leadership and strategic oversight of the project, integrating policy, advocacy, behaviour change, protection systems and livelihoods.
• Lead engagement with government bodies, parliament, and ministries to influence child labour policies and secure district‑level budget support.
• Manage partnerships with private‑sector actors, UN agencies, CSOs and donors, representing the project in coordination forums.
• Oversee development of policy briefs, evidence products and company commitments on Child Rights and Business Principles.
• Ensure quality implementation of case‑management systems, referral pathways and community structures, providing technical guidance on safeguarding.
• Supervise project officers and field teams, delivering coaching, performance management and capacity‑building.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation, data collection, analysis and reporting, using findings to adapt management approaches.
• Identify and mitigate programmatic and safeguarding risks.

Required profile

• Proven experience in child protection, child labour, or related humanitarian programmes.
• Strong knowledge of national child labour frameworks and minimum standards.
• Demonstrated ability to engage high‑level government officials and private‑sector partners.
• Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams and building partner capacity.
