Commercial Officer – Country Operations

About the role

The Commercial Officer – Country Operations will be the pioneer on the ground for BrighterMonday Consulting in Uganda. You will drive market entry, build key relationships, and support the launch of OTC trading and future payment services.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and execution of market‑entry strategies for OTC trading.
• Establish liquidity relationships with banks, merchants, and fintech partners.
• Build early customer and merchant pipelines.
• Act as the primary liaison with regulators, commercial banks, and international payment networks.
• Assist in budgeting, financial performance tracking, and P&L support.
• Prepare the business for transition to a licensed Payment Service Provider, including payment operations and compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Information Systems, Sales or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in FinTech, mobile money, banking, PSPs, EMIs, treasury, OTC trading or digital payments.
• Demonstrated interest in business growth, operations or client relationship management.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently as the first on‑ground representative.
• Willingness to engage with regulators, banks, merchants and payment partners.

Required skills

• Knowledge of AML/CFT, KYC, risk management and regulatory compliance principles.
