Country Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEAL) Manager

About the role

The Country Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEAL) Manager will lead the implementation of a robust MEAL system for WCS Uganda, ensuring alignment with global standards, program strategy, and donor requirements. This role supports impact measurement across protected areas and conservation initiatives, working closely with site managers and technical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee the Country and CMP Annual Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Plans (AMELP).
• Provide technical support to project leads for activity‑specific MEAL plans and ensure indicator alignment with the Theory of Change.
• Implement WCS MEAL standards, harmonising data collection, storage and reporting across sites.
• Maintain data quality through verification of Means of Verification, completeness checks and timely reporting.
• Analyse country‑level data to track progress, support evidence‑based decisions and inform adaptive management.
• Update project MEAL frameworks as programmatic needs evolve.
• Integrate MEAL components into proposals, ensuring high‑quality log‑frame design.
• Build capacity of country and site staff through training, coaching and field support.
• Manage MEAL databases, documentation and knowledge products; coordinate performance reviews and learning sessions.
• Liaise with global thematic leads and site managers to ensure coherent system use and drive improvements.
