Credit Manager – Lead SACCO Credit Operations

About the role

The Credit Manager will lead the SACCO’s credit function, overseeing the entire credit cycle from appraisal to recovery. This hands‑on management position requires a results‑oriented professional with deep knowledge of SACCO lending and credit risk in Uganda.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day credit operations and loan portfolio management, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives.
• Develop and implement credit management strategies that balance portfolio growth, member service, and credit quality.
• Oversee credit appraisal, approval, disbursement, monitoring, and recovery in line with approved policies.
• Monitor portfolio performance indicators such as portfolio‑at‑risk, delinquency, arrears, provisioning and recovery trends.
• Identify emerging credit risks and recommend corrective actions to maintain prudent risk standards.
• Ensure proper documentation, security perfection, and compliance with lending requirements.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 60 months of experience in credit management, preferably within a SACCO or micro‑finance environment.
• Proven ability to lead a credit team and drive disciplined credit‑risk practices.
• Strong understanding of credit appraisal, loan portfolio monitoring, delinquency control and recovery processes in Uganda.
• Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills with a focus on sustainable growth.
