Deputy Head of Secondary – Pastoral

About the role

The Deputy Head of Secondary – Pastoral will work closely with the Head of Secondary and the wider leadership team to ensure every student feels known, supported and inspired. This senior position combines strategic leadership with hands‑on pastoral practice in a well‑established K‑12 international school.

Key responsibilities

• Lead student voice and wellbeing initiatives across the secondary school.
• Oversee enrichment, extracurricular provision and school assemblies.
• Coordinate Year 10 work experience programmes.
• Develop and sustain a positive, inclusive school culture.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Minimum five years’ teaching experience in an accredited international secondary school or a UK‑based school.
• At least two years in a formal middle or senior leadership position.
• Demonstrable experience of pastoral leadership or significant pastoral responsibility.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to student wellbeing across the full secondary age range.
• Experience organising events, programmes or extracurricular activities.
• Safeguarding knowledge and ability to apply child‑protection principles.
