Fresh Produce Business Development Officer

About the role

Join a fast‑growing Kampala agritech firm that makes hydroponics and aquaponics accessible to urban growers. As the Fresh Produce Business Development Officer you will lead market expansion for fresh produce and farmed fish, building relationships with supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, caterers, distributors and processors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a sales strategy targeting supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, caterers, processors and distributors for fresh produce and fish.
• Identify and prioritize new market segments, including hospitality and FMCG retail channels, to secure consistent offtake.
• Monitor market trends, pricing and competitor activity to uncover opportunities.
• Negotiate and manage offtake contracts and pricing agreements with key buyers and distributors.
• Own and grow existing accounts, ensuring on‑time deliveries, consistent quality and rapid resolution of customer concerns.
• Coordinate closely with the production team so sales commitments are always backed by supply.
• Provide accurate sales forecasts and market reports to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Commerce, Hospitality Management or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years (36 months) of commercial experience in fresh food, hospitality, FMCG or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of how supermarkets, hotels, restaurants and FMCG buyers make purchasing decisions in Uganda.
• Commercially minded with proven ability to open new accounts and negotiate contracts.
