Health Specialist (Senior)

About the role

The Health Specialist will strengthen and expand Suyana Foundation’s health programmes in Uganda. Working under the Regional Programmes Manager Africa and closely with the Uganda Country Coordinator, the role combines programme design, field support, capacity building and monitoring to improve health outcomes for communities.

Key responsibilities

• Support partner organisations in designing, implementing and refining health interventions aligned with national priorities.
• Provide on‑the‑ground technical assistance, capacity strengthening and mentorship to health facilities and community health actors.
• Lead monitoring, evaluation and learning activities, ensuring data quality and timely reporting.
• Develop proposals, budgets and technical documents for new and ongoing projects.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement with local authorities, NGOs and community groups.
• Travel regularly to project sites across Uganda and occasionally to Rwanda and other East African locations.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years (84 months) of experience in health programme management or a related field.
• Senior‑level expertise with a proven track record in designing and delivering health interventions.
• Legal right to work in Uganda.
• Comfortable working directly with partners, communities, health facilities and local authorities.
