Internal Controls & Assurance Officer

About the role

We are seeking an Internal Controls & Assurance Officer to lead risk‑based internal control reviews across all departments and branches of Majibu Africa. The role focuses on ensuring policies, procedures and approval limits are consistently applied while identifying and mitigating operational and financial risks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a risk‑based internal controls and assurance review programme covering high‑risk functions such as Sales, Underwriting/Credit, Collections, Recovery and HR.
• Conduct regular and unannounced branch visits to verify assets, stock, documentation, staff attendance and loan information against system records.
• Review CRM and other operational systems for data accuracy, completeness and consistency, generating analytical tests and exception reports.
• Identify early warning indicators of operational, credit, compliance, fraud and process risks, investigate unusual transactions and escalate significant findings.
• Prepare concise, evidence‑based internal control reports, documenting findings, risk impact, root cause and recommended corrective actions.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 3 years of experience in internal controls, risk assurance or related functions.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to assess policies, procedures and approval limits.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently on field investigations.
• High level of confidentiality and professional objectivity.

Required skills

• Experience with CRM or similar operational systems.
• Proficiency in data analysis and generating exception reports.
• Knowledge of internal control frameworks and risk assessment methodologies.
