IT Director – Global IT Leadership

About the role

IPA is seeking an experienced IT Director to lead its global IT function. You will shape strategy, governance and service delivery for a distributed workforce operating across 20 country offices.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain IPA’s IT strategy, aligning it with organizational priorities and resource constraints.
• Own and enforce a comprehensive IT governance framework covering security, access management, data governance, acceptable use, vendor management and emerging technologies.
• Advise senior leadership on technology risks, investment decisions and compliance obligations in clear, non‑technical terms.
• Evaluate emerging technologies such as AI and automation and recommend responsible adoption pathways.
• Lead, develop and retain a team of six IT professionals, providing clear direction, feedback and growth opportunities.
• Recruit to fill capability gaps and build a team structure with clear domain ownership and accountability.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience managing a global or multi‑site IT function.
• Strong ability to translate organizational needs into technology priorities and governance.
• Experience ensuring compliance with regulatory and donor requirements.
• Excellent communication skills for advising non‑technical senior leaders.
