Livelihoods & Agriculture Specialist

About the role

The Livelihoods & Agriculture Specialist will strengthen Suyana Foundation’s livelihoods, agriculture and economic development programmes in Uganda. Working closely with regional and country managers, the specialist will support partners to design, implement and continuously improve sustainable programmes aligned with national priorities and market realities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and support implementation of sustainable livelihoods and agriculture programmes.
• Provide field support and capacity strengthening to local partners.
• Conduct market analysis and integrate market‑system approaches.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on programme performance.
• Develop proposals and contribute to fundraising efforts.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement and knowledge sharing across regions.
• Travel regularly to project sites in Uganda and occasionally within East Africa.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 84 months (7 years) of relevant experience.
• Right to work in Uganda (or agreement with Suyana).
• Background in agriculture, livelihoods or rural development.
• Experience in programme design, field implementation, monitoring & evaluation, and proposal development.
• Knowledge of national agricultural priorities and market dynamics.
