Nutrition Officer

About the role

The Nutrition Officer will provide technical leadership and oversight for the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of nutrition interventions within a climate‑smart agriculture project for refugee and host communities in northern Uganda.

Key responsibilities

• Lead nutrition program implementation in line with project objectives and national nutrition guidelines.
• Integrate nutrition‑sensitive approaches into agricultural production, food security and livelihood activities.
• Promote diversified food production through kitchen gardens, climate‑smart agriculture and nutrition‑sensitive farming practices.
• Support communities to improve dietary diversity, food utilization and overall nutrition outcomes.
• Target vulnerable groups such as women, children, adolescents, pregnant and lactating mothers, and persons with disabilities.
• Conduct community‑based nutrition education, awareness campaigns and behavior‑change communication strategies.
• Train community nutrition volunteers, lead farmers, health workers and local leaders.
• Facilitate cooking demonstrations, nutrition fairs and practical learning sessions.
