PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowships in Clinical Trials & Epidemic Preparedness

About the role

The ACT-PREP Consortium is offering a limited number of funded PhD and postdoctoral fellowships focused on clinical trials, epidemic preparedness, and related research areas. Fellows will join a multinational network addressing health challenges across several African countries.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct research projects in clinical trial methodology, disease surveillance, and epidemic response.
• Apply artificial intelligence and data analytics to health‑system resilience and One Health challenges.
• Collaborate with partners on laboratory and genomic surveillance initiatives.
• Contribute to ethics, regulatory science, and policy‑relevant outputs.
• Disseminate findings through scientific publications and stakeholder workshops.

Required profile

• Eligible national of DRC, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania or Uganda.
• For PhD fellowships: a master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
• For postdoctoral fellowships: a completed PhD in a related field.
• Strong motivation to work on health‑security research in low‑resource settings.
