About the role
Save the Children International is seeking a dedicated Program Officer to lead the implementation of the ECHO RISE education programme in selected districts of Uganda. The role focuses on delivering quality learning environments, supporting teachers, and ensuring programme alignment with gender, inclusion, and child protection standards.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and execute education interventions on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Orient teachers, head teachers, CCTs, SMCs, PTAs, and children on the Quality Learning Environment (QLE) framework.
- Collaborate with DEO offices and local stakeholders to develop annual plans for supported schools.
- Implement Save the Children’s Common Approaches, including Teaching at the Right Level (TarL).
- Ensure monthly payment of teachers’ salaries and conduct end‑project appraisals.
- Provide technical advice, capacity‑building, and monitoring of programme progress.
- Prepare reports, facilitate implementation meetings and workshops, and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Support the emergency team during humanitarian crises as needed.
Required profile
- Passionate advocate for children’s rights and education.
- Experience planning and managing education programmes in low‑resource settings.
- Ability to work with local government education officials, community leaders, and partner organisations.
- Strong understanding of gender, inclusion, and child protection principles.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Required skills
- Technical expertise in the Quality Learning Environment (QLE) framework.
- Knowledge of Teaching at the Right Level (TarL) approaches.
- Monitoring and evaluation of education interventions.
- Report writing and documentation.
- Stakeholder liaison and capacity‑building.
