About the role
The Regional Policy and Advocacy Advisor will support the PlayMatters (PM) Phase 3 education initiative in Uganda. PM aims to improve well‑being and holistic learning outcomes for children aged 3‑12 + in crisis‑affected settings by strengthening education systems through active, play‑based teaching.
Key responsibilities
- Lead creative efforts to raise awareness of developmental needs of children in refugee‑hosting and post‑crisis zones.
- Support the design and implementation of policy and advocacy strategies that promote Learning through Play (LtP) within national and local education systems.
- Collaborate with government bodies, community‑based organisations, civil society and private‑sector partners to increase system capacity, coordination and uptake of LtP.
- Contribute to cross‑cutting programming focused on systems strengthening and accountability to affected persons.
Required profile
- Senior‑level professional with at least five years of relevant experience (minimum 60 months).
- Proven background in policy development, advocacy, and humanitarian or education contexts.
- Experience working in crisis‑affected environments and with refugee‑hosting communities.
- Strong understanding of education systems and play‑based learning methodologies.
