Accountant – Resort Finance

About the role

We are looking for a diligent Accountant to manage the financial operations of our resort in Kamwokya, Uganda. The role involves maintaining accurate records, overseeing payments, and providing financial insights to support day‑to‑day operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date financial records and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual statements including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow reports.
• Reconcile bank, credit‑card and accounts payable/receivable statements to ensure accuracy.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, verify invoices, issue invoices and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Oversee cash flow, prepare cash‑flow projections and monitor petty‑cash transactions.
• Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, payroll taxes, income tax) in compliance with Ugandan regulations.
• Assist in budgeting, financial forecasting and provide data to senior management.
• Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years (36 months) of relevant accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or similar sector.
• Mid‑level qualification with solid understanding of Ugandan tax laws and accounting standards.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel for financial reporting.
• Knowledge of tax compliance, accounts payable/receivable processes and cash‑flow management.
