Commercial Manager (M/F) - Sales & Marketing

About the role

AGL Transport & Logistics, a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics (part of the MSC Group), is looking for a Commercial Manager in Kampala, Uganda. The role oversees sales and marketing activities to secure business across logistics solutions, forwarding, clearing, transit and supply chain, and manages the commercial team and key accounts. It is a full-time permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out regular market surveys, analyse market attractiveness and competition, and provide data and action plans to grow Bolloré Transport & Logistics' market share
• Develop the commercial strategy, identify target clients and lead the selling process, working with operations and support departments
• Manage quotations, monitor hit rate and response time, and build strong external and internal business relationships
• Lead the commercial team, measure its performance, close performance gaps and train the team
• Monitor account profitability, take part in debt recovery, attend KPI reviews with key accounts and escalate important issues to regional and corporate teams
• Support regional and global RFQs and customers, and monitor contract compliance

Required profile

• University degree in Business and/or Engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in business development in forwarding, logistics, supply chain or services
• Knowledge of logistics, clearing and forwarding
• Already in contact with key market stakeholders
• Excellent command of written and spoken English, ideally also French
