Compensation & Benefits Manager

About the role

The Compensation & Benefits (C&B) Manager will lead the design, implementation and administration of SMARTEC Electronics' total rewards programs. Reporting to senior leadership, you will ensure that pay structures, benefits and payroll processes are competitive, compliant and aligned with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain salary structures, job grading, and conduct job evaluations using market data.
• Lead annual salary reviews, bonus and merit increase cycles, and manage short‑term and long‑term incentive plans.
• Oversee all employee benefit programs, negotiate with providers, and ensure legal compliance.
• Manage end‑to‑end monthly payroll, statutory filings to URA and NSSF, and serve as the point of contact for payroll audits.
• Conduct compensation benchmarking, internal equity analysis, gender pay gap reporting and provide insights to leadership.
• Develop and maintain C&B policies, partner with Finance for budgeting, and ensure governance of reward practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in compensation, benefits or payroll administration.
• Strong knowledge of Ugandan labour laws and statutory requirements.
• Proven ability to design pay structures and conduct market benchmarking.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
