About the role
The Finance Manager will lead the financial function of SMARTEC ELECTRONICS LTD, developing strategies that support the company’s growth in the retail, fashion and FMCG sectors. Reporting to senior leadership, you will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with corporate goals.
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with department heads.
- Conduct financial analysis and modeling to provide data‑driven insights for strategic planning.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with local regulations and accounting standards.
- Review financial reports, identify trends, variances and potential risks.
- Oversee tax planning, compliance and filing for all company entities.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity and working capital to support operations and investments.
- Monitor and optimise the capital structure and maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions.
- Implement cost‑reduction initiatives and support growth projects.
- Maintain a strong internal control framework and mitigate financial risks.
- Coordinate internal and external audit processes and address recommendations.
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, set goals and KPIs, and conduct performance reviews.
- Identify and implement process improvements and oversee selection of financial software and tools.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to automate processes and enhance data integrity.
- Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts and recommendations to the executive team and stakeholders.
Required profile
- Senior‑level experience (minimum 4 years) in finance, accounting or related fields.
- Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax laws and financial reporting standards.
- Experience managing cash flow, liquidity and capital structure.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication skills for presenting insights to senior leadership.
