Graphic Design and Layout Consultant – PlayMatters 3.0 Manuals

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC), implementing the PlayMatters 3.0 education initiative in Uganda, Ethiopia and South Sudan, is seeking a Graphic Design and Layout Consultant to update seven existing training and support manuals for educators and community leaders. The work focuses on incorporating content revisions, keeping visual consistency and preparing final print-ready and digital files in line with PlayMatters branding.

Key responsibilities

• Incorporate all content revisions, additions and deletions into the seven manuals using the provided technical inputs and integration guidance.
• Update layout and pagination while keeping the established visual identity, and reformat tables, diagrams, illustrations and text boxes.
• Maintain consistent typography, headings, spacing, page numbering, headers and footers, and ensure content is clear, aligned and print-ready.
• Update covers and internal design elements to reflect PlayMatters branding and indicate "Second Edition, October 2026".
• Review all revised manuals for layout inconsistencies, text overflow, broken tables and pagination errors, then submit drafts for review and incorporate feedback.
• Prepare and submit final print-ready PDFs and editable source files.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of graphic design experience.
• Demonstrated experience in publication layout and desktop publishing, including print-ready training manuals or educational materials.
• Experience with development, education or NGO publications is an advantage.
• Strong English writing skills; confidentiality is required.

Required skills

• Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat Pro (or similar).
• Ability to apply branding guidelines consistently and produce accessible, print-ready files.
