Molecular Diagnostic Manager – Reagent Manufacturing

About the role

Microhaem Scientifics & Medical Supplies Limited is seeking an experienced Molecular Diagnostic Manager to lead end‑to‑end manufacturing of molecular diagnostic reagents at its production facility in Kampala, Uganda. This strategic position will drive scale‑up from pilot to commercial manufacturing while ensuring compliance with international quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily production of molecular diagnostic reagents.
• Plan and execute scale‑up from pilot to commercial scale.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO 13485, SOPs and quality requirements.
• Manage production teams, including workforce planning, training and development.
• Oversee batch records, CAPA, documentation and equipment performance.
• Support method validation, verification, technology transfer and product development.
• Implement contamination‑control strategies and cleanroom practices.
• Collaborate with R&D, QA, QC and Regulatory Affairs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related field.
• Minimum 5 years hands‑on experience in molecular diagnostics manufacturing.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience supervising reagent production teams.
• Proven track record of manufacturing scale‑up in GMP/ISO 13485 environments.

Required skills

• Expertise in PCR/qPCR, RT‑PCR and DNA/RNA extraction.
• Experience with reagent manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of automated liquid handling, lyophilisation and cleanroom mixing.
• Familiarity with GMP and ISO 13485 quality frameworks.
