Supply Chain Manager – Agro-Commodity Procurement & Distillery

About the role

The Supply Chain Manager will lead end‑to‑end sourcing, procurement, logistics and inventory management for a grain‑based distillery in Uganda. The focus is on securing maize, cassava and biomass fuel at competitive landed cost while ensuring quality and continuous production.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for maize, cassava and other agro‑commodities.
• Build and maintain a network of farmers, aggregators, traders and cooperatives.
• Monitor harvest cycles, market prices and seasonal supply risks.
• Negotiate purchase prices, contracts, payment terms and delivery schedules.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and seasonal procurement plans aligned with plant production.
• Coordinate quality checks with QA, including moisture, foreign matter and aflatoxin risk.
• Manage transportation, freight costs and delivery discrepancies.
• Oversee warehouse inventory, stock verification and loss reduction.
• Track total landed cost and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Maintain accurate SAP/ERP documentation (PRs, POs, GRNs, invoices).
• Lead the procurement and logistics team and report key metrics to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Agriculture, Agribusiness or related field.
• 8‑12+ years of experience in supply chain or procurement, preferably in distillery or agro‑commodity environments.
• Proven ability to manage large‑scale commodity sourcing and logistics operations.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with cost optimisation.
