Maintenance Specialist (MEI) – Tilenga Project

About the role

The Maintenance Specialist (MEI) will lead mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities during the commissioning and start‑up phase of the Tilenga Project in Uganda. Reporting to the Preservation / Maintenance Lead, you will ensure safe, efficient and timely execution of all maintenance tasks in line with the Commissioning Execution Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and perform maintenance, commissioning and start‑up of MEI systems, including alignment of rotating equipment, electrical loop checks and instrumentation calibration.
• Troubleshoot and carry out corrective maintenance on rotating/static equipment, electrical panels and instrumented systems.
• Develop and support preventive maintenance programs and preservation plans.
• Participate in walkdowns, punch listing, cleaning and reinstatement of MEI systems.
• Document all activities in the Systems Completion Database (ICAPS) and manage spare‑parts inventory.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules with operations, engineering and commissioning teams.
• Provide technical input for spares, lubricants and consumables selection.
• Mentor junior technicians and national staff on procedures and safety practices.
• Prepare PTWs, conduct job safety analyses and report daily progress and resource needs.

Required profile

• Technical diploma or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of maintenance experience on EPC oil & gas projects (contractor or operator).
• Proven experience with rotating machinery (pumps, compressors, turbines).
• Strong background in electrical systems (VFDs, MCCs, HV/MV/LV).
• Experience with instrumentation (control valves, transmitters, DCS/PLC, ESD, F&G, analysers, HIPS).
• Familiarity with ICAPS is a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of Primavera and AutoCAD is advantageous.
• Fluent English and strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
