Portfolio Manager - Credit Card

About the role

Absa Group is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to lead its Credit Card business in Uganda. You will be responsible for driving acquisition, activation, spend, profitability and overall portfolio quality while ensuring compliance with regulatory and scheme requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute growth strategies to increase credit card acquisition, usage and revenue.
• Manage end‑to‑end performance of the portfolio, including interchange, interest, fees and other income streams.
• Oversee product lifecycle – launches, enhancements, pricing reviews and portfolio refreshes.
• Conduct competitor benchmarking and market analysis to keep offerings industry‑leading.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and direct sales to accelerate sales, activation and utilization.
• Monitor portfolio profitability, return on assets and risk metrics to ensure sustainable growth.
• Ensure compliance with country regulations, Absa policies and Visa/Mastercard scheme rules.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least 5 years (60 months) of experience in credit card portfolio management or related banking functions.
• Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and growing a credit card portfolio.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret portfolio data and drive actionable insights.
• Excellent understanding of regulatory, risk and card scheme requirements.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
