About the role

The Loan Officer will build and maintain strong, trust‑based relationships with clients while assessing loan applications and managing the loan portfolio. This role involves conducting appraisals, preparing credit analyses, and ensuring responsible lending practices.

Key responsibilities

Build and maintain client relationships to ensure a positive experience at every touchpoint.
Conduct individual loan appraisals using phone interviews, reference checks and CRB checks.
Assess repayment capacity by analysing farm, business and household income and expenses.
Prepare accurate credit analyses in line with company policies and procedures.
Present loan recommendations to the credit committee with clear, evidence‑based justification.
Disburse approved loans and explain repayment schedules and obligations to clients.
Monitor portfolio quality, follow up with clients and intervene early on at‑risk accounts.
Maintain the portfolio at or below agreed Portfolio at Risk (PAR) targets and uphold ethical lending standards.
