Senior Full-Stack Developer (Backend Focus)

About the role

MOOKH is building Africa's next‑generation events, ticketing, payments and access‑control platform. We are looking for a senior full‑stack engineer whose primary focus will be designing, implementing and scaling backend services while also contributing to our Next.js front‑end when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services in Node.js/NestJS for events, ticketing, payments, payouts and entry management.
• Create and evolve versioned, secure REST APIs for internal and partner consumption.
• Model data in PostgreSQL, write performant queries, manage migrations and ensure transactional integrity.
• Build asynchronous workflows with RabbitMQ for event‑driven coordination.
• Integrate external payment providers (cards, mobile money) and communication services (email, SMS, OTP).
• Containerise applications with Docker and support CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Implement observability, monitoring, alerting and resilience patterns to meet SLA requirements.
• Collaborate with product and operations teams to scope features, debug issues and improve end‑to‑end customer journeys.
• Contribute to frontend features in Next.js and ensure seamless integration with backend services.
• Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers and participate in architectural planning.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, primarily on backend systems.
• Strong understanding of service boundaries, transaction reliability and scalability.
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and influence architectural decisions.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, product‑focused environment.
