Accounts Assistant

About the role

Old Mutual is hiring an Accounts Assistant in Kampala to carry out the main day-to-day finance activities on time and accurately, including generating management accounts. The role sits within the finance function and covers accounts payable and receivable, tax remittance, vendor reconciliation and unit trust reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Compute revenues on time, book them correctly in the system and invoice customers with statements
• Book expenses accurately with supporting documentation
• Maintain accurate accounts payable records showing balances per vendor
• Capture taxes correctly on every transaction and remit them to URA by the 13th of each month
• Settle payments on time and reconcile vendor accounts regularly
• Prepare commission schedules on time and make commission payments by the 25th of each month
• Invoicing clients monthly and quarterly, and handling payment matters with clients efficiently
• Reconcile unallocated balances of the Unit trust, analyse ageing and submit monthly reconciliations to the CFO for approval
• Make timely supplier payments and reconcile all bank accounts
• Prepare and submit management accounts for the funds by the 13th of each month
• Vouch petty cash monthly and prepare petty cash certificates
• Ensure adherence to compliance, anti-money laundering (AML) and sanctions policies, including KYC, ongoing and enhanced due diligence, and escalating breaches to the Risk and Compliance Office

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance or Business Administration (required)
• Ability to follow AML, compliance and sanctions requirements
