Associate Consultant - Cardiac Critical Care

About the role

The Uganda Heart Institute is looking for an Associate Consultant in Cardiac Critical Care in Kampala. The role provides specialist care for cardiac critical care patients with the aim of achieving optimal patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage cardiac conditions and complications in critical care.
• Assist in planning and coordinating continuing professional development for health professionals in the specialty.
• Plan, coordinate and conduct operational research in the specialty.
• Manage referral systems for patients at appropriate levels.
• Ensure discipline and the code of conduct are observed by staff under supervision.
• Provide technical and professional advice in the specialty.
• Advise on procurement of equipment, drugs and other logistics required for the specialty.

Required profile

• MB.Ch.B. degree or equivalent from a recognised university or institution.
• Master of Medicine (Anaesthesia, Surgery or Internal Medicine) or equivalent, with training in the specialty.
• Registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council and holds a valid practicing licence.
• Demonstrated interest in research.
• At least three years of working experience in general or critical care medicine.
