About the role
The MHPSS Senior Specialist ensures effective coordination, coherence and implementation of War Child’s evidence‑based methods in youth mental health across a cluster of partner countries. The role translates strategies into context‑relevant support, oversees quality assurance, partner onboarding and adaptive learning.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain cluster‑level oversight of thematic quality assurance for EBM integration, implementation and scaling by partners.
- Coordinate thematic support provided by Specialists, prioritize activities and advise on resource allocation.
- Lead adaptive learning cycles at cluster level, develop learning agendas and document lessons learned.
- Strengthen organisational and partner capacity in MHPSS EBMs through training, mentoring and scalable learning approaches.
- Represent War Child’s EBM Care System portfolio externally, contributing to sector policy and discourse.
Required profile
- Relevant academic background or closely related field.
- Experience in MHPSS thematic area within humanitarian or post‑conflict contexts.
- Proven experience working with partners on co‑creation and delivery of programmes.
- Demonstrated experience in programme design, needs assessment, learning cycles and quality assurance.
- Fluency in English; additional languages (Arabic, French, etc.) are a plus.
Required skills
- Strong understanding of quality standards, evidence‑based programming and MEAL integration.
- Knowledge of cross‑sectoral integration (Education, Child Protection, MHPSS).
- Familiarity with digital collaboration and learning tools such as Mural, Miro, SharePoint and MS Teams.

- Work across multiple countries in War Child’s operational cluster (DRC, Uganda, CAR, South Sudan, Sudan, Chad).
- Preference for candidates residing in War Child operational locations with valid work authorisation.
