Credit Control Officer

About the role

The Credit Control Officer will manage and optimise the credit control function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts and effective monitoring of customer accounts. Reporting to the Credit Controller, the role supports cash‑flow stability and minimises bad‑debt exposure for a manufacturing and warehousing organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Set up clear terms and conditions for credit facilities to minimise risk.
• Develop the credit management capability of team members.
• Ensure timely collection of debts and customer payments to improve cash flow.
• Reconcile complex accounts escalated by the team and resolve disputed balances.
• Monitor customer accounts and coordinate with the sales team on debt collection.
• Enforce adherence to credit collection policies and procedures.
• Review and authorise credit applications based on risk assessment.
• Visit clients to clarify debts and renegotiate repayment plans where necessary.
• Prepare and present monthly credit control reports to management.
• Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 36 months of experience in credit control, accounts receivable or related finance functions.
• Proven ability to assess credit risk and make informed credit decisions.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for account reconciliation.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, sales teams and senior management.
• Ability to work independently and support team development.
