Credit Manager

About the role

The Credit Manager will lead the credit operations function at Uwezo Microfinance Limited, ensuring that all credit processes are executed accurately, efficiently and in full compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. The role combines revenue collection oversight, risk monitoring and continuous improvement of manual and automated credit workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Guarantee strict adherence to the Process and Procedure Manual, T24 Manual and related IT controls, escalating any gaps before data entry.
• Collect facility fees, commissions and other charges accurately to protect income streams and implement mechanisms for complete revenue capture.
• Implement and monitor credit administration processes, ensuring timely transaction processing, fraud detection and audit follow‑up.
• Maintain high‑quality credit documentation, including facility offer letters, and ensure collateral insurance policies are up‑to‑date.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to automate manual processes, improve turnaround times and strengthen business continuity plans.
• Resolve customer operational issues arising from credit operations within agreed service levels, escalating when necessary.

Required profile

• Executive‑level professional with at least 3 years of experience in credit operations or a similar banking environment.
• Strong understanding of credit policies, risk management and regulatory guidelines.
• Proven ability to work closely with audit, risk and IT teams to drive compliance and process improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the T24 core banking system.
