Financial Accountant / Analyst

About the role

Cellulant, a payments company operating across more than 24 African countries, is looking for a highly analytical, detail-oriented and experienced Financial Accountant/Analyst to join its Finance team in Kampala. The role manages end-to-end accounting for revenue, cost of sales, intercompany transactions and inventory, ensuring accurate, complete and compliant financial records in a fast-growing fintech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month-end revenue closing, including revenue recognition entries, accruals and deferred revenue schedules, and reconcile operational systems with the general ledger
• Record and monitor direct costs, run preliminary gross margin analysis and support cost of sales reporting
• Record and reconcile intercompany revenue, cost-sharing and recharges, prepare intercompany billing statements and perform month-end eliminations
• Manage day-to-day inventory accounting, reconcile vendor balances and monitor inventory controls
• Prepare month-end financial schedules and working papers, coordinate with internal and external auditors and support audit readiness
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure timely submission of required information
• Monitor system mappings between revenue platforms and the general ledger, recommend automation and process improvements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA or CFA preferred
• At least five years of experience in revenue accounting, cost accounting or general financial accounting
• Strong understanding of IFRS 15 and ASC 606; experience in fintech, SaaS or high-growth tech companies is an advantage
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
