HR Manager – Strategic Leadership Role

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources (HR) Manager to lead all HR functions across the organization in Uganda. The role focuses on developing and implementing HR strategies, ensuring legal compliance, and driving employee engagement to support business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor HR policies, procedures and best practices.
• Lead recruitment, selection, onboarding and retention initiatives.
• Oversee performance management, employee development and succession planning.
• Manage employee relations, disciplinary processes, grievance handling and conflict resolution.
• Ensure compliance with labour laws, statutory requirements and company policies.
• Design and deliver learning and development programs.
• Administer compensation, benefits and rewards programs.
• Prepare HR reports, workforce analytics and management dashboards.
• Advise senior management on HR strategy and organisational development.
• Foster a positive workplace culture that promotes diversity and high performance.
• Manage the HR budget and optimise departmental resources.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field.
• Registered member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
• Minimum 5 years’ progressive HR management experience.
• Strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR policies and best practices.
• Proven experience in recruitment, performance management, employee relations and training.
• Excellent leadership, communication and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Analytical, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
• Willingness to work in Uganda and maintain confidentiality.
