Manager – Financial Reporting

About the role

The Manager – Financial Reporting will lead the bank’s reporting, compliance and fund‑management functions. Reporting to senior finance leadership, you will ensure accurate statutory accounts, timely regulatory returns and effective coordination with auditors and funders.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile the balance sheet monthly and address any discrepancies.
• Maintain the general ledger, open and close GL accounts, and design charts of accounts for new branches.
• Coordinate external audits and implement audit recommendations.
• Support HR in payroll preparation and ensure timely filing of payroll returns.
• Prepare semi‑annual statutory accounts and oversee daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly BOU returns.
• Manage relationships with long‑term funders, reporting to them in line with covenants and timelines.
• Administer fund activities, including draw‑downs, interest calculations, repayments and borrowing account management.
• Supervise finance officers and ensure high‑quality output.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA or CIMA).
• Minimum eight years of finance experience, with at least four years in a senior role within a financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Ugandan tax legislation and the Financial Institutions Act (2004 and amendments).
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical mindset and proactive work style.
