Operations Excellence Lead (Data Science & Service Assurance)

About the role

TowerCo of Africa Uganda Limited manages critical telecommunications infrastructure across Uganda and Tanzania, serving major operators MTN, Airtel and LYCA, with hundreds of passive sites monitored remotely. It is hiring an Operations Excellence Lead who combines data science expertise with operational leadership to own the assurance and analytics layer linking field maintenance, operational systems and management reporting. The role covers Uganda and Tanzania and is full-time and permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain machine-learning models for fuel forecasting, anomaly detection and equipment failure prediction; investigate fuel drops and load variations and quantify OPEX savings
• Own monthly PM/CM reconciliation against system records, reconcile vendor costs and penalties, and maintain an open item register for disputes and defects with full evidence and sign-off
• Manage site master accuracy, build automated data-quality rules and dashboards, align asset data across O&M, Finance and Projects, and define data ownership
• Act as business owner for work-order systems and RMS integration, design and document O&M processes, run risk-based QA audits across all sites and drive five or more improvement initiatives per year

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Engineering
• At least 5 years in data science, advanced analytics, operations assurance or process improvement
• Demonstrated applied machine-learning or analytics solutions on operational, cost or asset data with measurable results
• Experience with reconciliation, cost control or OPEX optimization, and with process documentation, procedure development and quality assurance
• Preferred: Master's degree, experience in telecommunications, power systems, energy or infrastructure operations, CMMS, IoT or remote monitoring data, ISO 9001:2015 or ISO 45001:2018 auditor certification, and field team leadership

Required skills

• Python and SQL
• BI dashboard development (Power BI or equivalent)
• Understanding of power systems, fuel management and field maintenance
