Pharmacy Billing and Coding Specialist

About the role

The Pharmacy Billing and Coding Specialist will join Mediloop’s Kampala office to ensure accurate translation of pharmacy services into billing and coding entries. Working closely with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, you will verify prescriptions, patient information, and insurance coverage before claims are submitted, supporting the company’s AI‑powered health data platform.

Key responsibilities

• Review prescriptions and medication details to generate correct billing and coding entries.
• Submit pharmacy claims and monitor their status, addressing denials and performing root‑cause analysis.
• Reconcile billing records, manage accounts, and ensure compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with pharmacy staff to verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and compounded medication documentation.
• Maintain clear communication with customers, insurers, and internal teams regarding claim status and billing inquiries.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of pharmacy billing workflows and data quality within Mediloop’s platform.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, prescription processing, and basic compounding concepts.
• Experience working with pharmacy technicians or in a retail, hospital, or clinical pharmacy environment.
• Demonstrated customer‑service skills and ability to handle billing‑related inquiries professionally.
• Diploma or degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Health Information Management, or related field; certifications in billing and coding are a plus.
