Pool Attendant

About the role

Acorns International School (AIS) in Kampala is hiring a full-time Pool Attendant. The person keeps the swimming pool water clean, safe and properly treated, in line with health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Test pool water at least 2-3 times daily for chlorine, pH, alkalinity and calcium hardness, and adjust treatment with the right chemicals in the right amounts
• Keep chlorine levels within recommended health standards and maintain daily water test and chemical usage records
• Monitor and operate filtration, circulation and pumping systems; backwash filters and clean strainers on schedule
• Skim debris daily, vacuum and brush walls and floor, and keep the pool deck clean and dry
• Inspect drainage systems, pumps, filters and chemical dosing systems, and report malfunctions immediately
• Ensure safe storage and handling of chemicals, and keep pool signage and safety instructions clear
• Maintain daily maintenance logs, record incidents and corrective actions, and comply with local public health and safety regulations
• Monitor swimmers, prevent unsafe conduct, respond to emergencies and keep lifesaving equipment accessible and functional

Required profile

• Minimum O-Level certificate (or equivalent)
• Basic swimming ability
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred

Required skills

• Certification in Pool Water Treatment / Pool Plant Operations is an added advantage
• Knowledge of safe chemical handling procedures
