Public Health Dental Officer

About the role

The Bukomansimbi District Health Department is seeking a qualified Public Health Dental Officer to lead oral health activities, provide clinical services and promote dental health within the community.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and budget for oral dental activities.
• Diagnose, treat and manage patients.
• Refer complicated cases to the Senior Public Health Dental Officer.
• Implement safety measures against hazards.
• Ensure dental equipment is functional and well maintained.
• Requisition necessary supplies for oral health activities.
• Conduct oral/dental education for patients and the community.
• Participate in research activities.
• Impart knowledge and skills to students and staff.
• Adhere to the Code of Conduct and Ethics.
• Manage and account for allocated resources.
• Compile and submit regular reports.

Required profile

• Diploma in Public Health Dentistry from a recognized institution.
• Registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council and hold a valid practising licence.
• Competencies in planning, organising, ICT use, report writing, accountability, public relations, effective communication, ethics, teamwork, results orientation and time management.

Required skills

• Dental clinical procedures (diagnosis, treatment and patient management).
• Oral health education for patients and the community.
• Maintenance and functional checks of dental equipment.
• Use of information communication technology for reporting and record keeping.
