Raw Material Inspector

About the role

The Raw Material Inspector ensures that all incoming raw materials meet the required specifications before they are released for production. Working in the Technical Department at Kapeeka, the role safeguards product quality and production efficiency by preventing defective inputs from entering the manufacturing process.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, sample and inspect incoming raw materials such as clays, feldspar, quartz, talc, kaolin, glazes, pigments and packaging materials.
• Conduct physical, chemical and visual inspections using established test methods.
• Perform laboratory tests including particle size analysis, moisture content, plasticity, and chemical composition using XRF, titration or other equipment.
• Record test results, compare them with approved specifications and label materials as accepted, rejected or held.
• Maintain detailed inspection records, sampling logs and non‑conformance reports; prepare daily and weekly reports for the Technical Manager.
• Issue non‑conformance reports, coordinate with procurement and suppliers to resolve quality issues and manage the return of non‑conforming materials.
• Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory testing equipment; manage consumables inventory.
• Follow safety protocols, use required PPE and ensure compliance with quality and environmental regulations.
