Senior Credit Manager – Kampala

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Credit Manager to lead credit risk activities from our Kampala office. The role is pivotal in protecting asset quality, guiding risk‑return decisions and providing strategic forecasts that support the bank’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee credit risk management for corporate and commercial loan portfolios.
• Design, implement and continuously improve credit policies aligned with the bank’s strategy and risk appetite.
• Evaluate, approve or reject credit applications within delegated authority, ensuring compliance with Group mandates.
• Monitor portfolio performance, analyse impairment trends, conduct stress testing and early‑risk identification.
• Prepare comprehensive risk reports for senior management, risk committees and regulators.
• Enhance internal controls and escalation processes for material risk breaches.
• Collaborate with Sales, Compliance, Risk and external parties such as regulators and rating agencies.
• Promote a culture of risk awareness, continuous learning and professional development.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing credit risk across diverse corporate and commercial loan portfolios.
• Deep knowledge of operational risk principles, credit policies and regulatory frameworks in Uganda and internationally.
• Strong analytical capability in financial statement analysis, credit scoring, portfolio risk review and stress testing.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels.
• Demonstrated leadership in mentoring teams and fostering high‑performance risk culture.
