Accounts Assistant

About the role

Old Mutual is looking for an Accounts Assistant to carry out the main day-to-day finance activities on time and accurately, including generating management accounts. The role also covers accounts payable and receivable, tax remittance, unit trust reconciliations and bank account reconciliation.

Key responsibilities

• Compute and book revenues and expenses correctly and on time, with accurate invoicing and customer statements.
• Maintain accurate records of accounts payable, including balances per vendor, and reconcile vendor accounts regularly.
• Capture taxes correctly on every transaction and remit them to URA by the 13th of each month.
• Prepare commission schedules on time and make commission payments by the 25th of each month.
• Invoicing clients monthly and quarterly, and handling payment matters with clients efficiently.
• Reconcile unallocated balances of the Unit trust, analyse their ageing, and perform monthly unit trust reconciliations submitted to the CFO.
• Make timely payments to suppliers and reconcile all bank accounts.
• Prepare and submit management accounts for the funds by the 13th of each month, and vouch petty cash monthly.
• Ensure adherence to compliance, anti-money laundering (AML) and sanctions policies, including KYC, customer due diligence and escalation of suspicious activity to the Risk and Compliance Office.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance or Business Administration (required).
• Ability to follow AML, sanctions and compliance requirements.
