Revenue, Cost & Inventory Accountant

About the role

Cellulant, a payments company with offices in 10 countries and a presence in over 24, is hiring a Revenue, Cost & Inventory Accountant in Kampala. The role covers end-to-end revenue, cost of sales, intercompany transactions and inventory accounting, ensuring every transaction is accurately captured, reconciled and reported in a high-growth fintech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the month-end revenue close, including revenue recognition entries, accruals and deferred revenue schedules, and maintain the revenue sub-ledger
• Reconcile operational systems (payment gateways, core platforms) with the general ledger and support IFRS 15 compliance
• Record and track direct costs (fees, platform costs, partner commissions) and perform first-level gross margin analysis
• Record and reconcile intercompany revenue, cost-sharing and recharges, prepare billing statements and process month-end eliminations
• Maintain and reconcile inventory balances with vendors and third parties, and run internal controls over inventory movement and valuation
• Prepare month-end schedules and working papers, coordinate with auditors and liaise with regulatory authorities
• Monitor system mappings between revenue systems and the general ledger and report automation opportunities

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA, ACCA or CFA preferred
• 5+ years of experience in revenue, cost or general financial accounting
• Solid understanding of IFRS 15 / ASC 606 and cost recognition principles
• Experience in fintech, SaaS or high-growth tech is highly desirable
• Proven ability to manage multiple accounting streams hands-on, with strong attention to detail
