Associate Director Finance and Administration

About the role
The Associate Director Finance and Administration supports the Project Director of STRIDES by overseeing all financial, compliance, grants, procurement and administrative functions. This senior position ensures alignment with donor requirements, FHI 360 policies and Ugandan regulations, while strengthening systems for accurate reporting and decision‑making.
Key responsibilities
- Lead annual budgeting, re‑forecasting and variance analysis across partners and departments.
- Oversee general ledger integrity, month‑end and year‑end close, and preparation of internal and donor financial reports.
- Implement and monitor internal controls, identify gaps and document corrective actions.
- Review sub‑recipient financial reports, conduct spot checks, and provide capacity‑building support.
- Manage cash forecasting, liquidity planning and disbursement approvals.
- Coordinate project, statutory and donor audits, prepare schedules and lead management responses.
- Supervise and mentor finance, grants, procurement and administration staff, fostering a culture of accountability.
- Maintain the finance and operations risk register and support fraud prevention measures.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in financial management, budgeting and reporting within donor‑funded projects.
- Proven ability to lead and develop finance and administration teams.
- Strong knowledge of Ugandan financial regulations and donor compliance standards.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating audits and implementing internal controls.
