Business Development Manager – Bancassurance

About the role

The Business Development Manager – Bancassurance will lead partnership development, sales and distribution, and training initiatives for CIC Insurance Group in Uganda. The role focuses on building strategic alliances with co‑operatives, banks, MFIs, brokers and independent agents to grow retail life insurance business.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, engage and onboard strategic partners such as co‑operatives, banks, MFIs, brokers and agents.
• Negotiate and manage partnership contracts, conduct regular reviews and provide market‑intelligence recommendations.
• Build and maintain a professionally trained salesforce, monitor productivity and achieve retail life targets.
• Recruit, train and develop assistant regional managers, channel team leaders and sales officers.
• Monitor channel performance, feed product development insights and drive channel innovation.
• Train partners to enhance retail life knowledge through meetings and workshops.
• Prepare sales reports, assess partner impact, manage budgeting, performance incentives and expense approvals.
• Ensure strict compliance with internal processes and external regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Insurance, Economics or related field.
• Certificate of Proficiency and Diploma in Insurance/LOMA.
• Minimum of 7 years relevant experience, including at least 4 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Strong knowledge of bancassurance, partnership management and sales distribution.
