Business Intelligence Expert

About the role

Opportunity Bank Uganda is looking for a Business Intelligence Expert in Kampala to manage the development, monitoring and execution of the Bank's corporate strategy. The role also covers business intelligence dashboards, performance reports and scorecards, acting as the single source of data truth for the Bank's strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Support the formulation, implementation, monitoring, execution and review of the Bank's Corporate Strategy with the leadership team, and turn it into actionable plans and performance indicators.
• Support staff performance targets and help build a strategy communication plan for internal and external stakeholders.
• Analyse market trends, competitors, macroeconomic conditions, customer behaviour and industry best practices to inform strategy and planning.
• Build and maintain interactive dashboards, performance reports, scorecards and analytical tools, keeping information consistent across reports.
• Run descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics to find root causes, forecast outcomes and recommend actions.
• Set standards for data definitions, reporting, quality and governance, monitor data quality and automate recurring reports.
• Keep the Bank's data warehouse up to date and ensure compliance with finance policies, BOU regulations, budget parameters and the risk management framework.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Studies, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Strategy, AI or a related field; a postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• At least 4 years of experience in business intelligence, business planning and analytics, strategy, performance management, forecasting and scenario analysis, preferably in banking, financial services, telecoms, fintech or a large reputable organisation.
• Professional certification in data analytics, BI, strategy management or project management is desirable.

Required skills

• Good understanding of the business and strong initiative.
• Excellent use of Excel, PowerPoint and data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL) is a plus.
• Programming skills.
• Communication with the CEO, ED, stakeholders, staff, clients and service providers.
