Casual Chef – Part‑Time

About the role

Marriott International is seeking a part‑time casual chef to join its food and beverage team in Kampala. The role involves preparing a variety of dishes while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and presentation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, portion, chop, and store food items.
• Cook foods according to recipes, quality and presentation standards.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely.
• Monitor food quality, test doneness, and ensure correct temperatures.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain a clean kitchen environment.
• Follow company safety policies, report incidents, and complete required safety training.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related food‑service experience.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lb and perform repetitive motions for an entire shift.
• Professional appearance and clear communication skills.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Food preparation techniques such as chopping, portioning and measuring.
• Knowledge of food safety and temperature control.
